Design Concept

Incentives and rewards programs

The incentives and rewards program received a positive response in the questionnaire, Swedish freelancers see that one of the most welcomed incentive practices would be that the platform would lower the commission fees when users reach higher user levels.

For more exposure for users, it was suggested that the platform could host competitions specifically for new users to help them gain experience and visibility. It was agreed that the highest user levels should be challenging to reach to keep users continually engaged. Additionally, clients who are exceptionally satisfied should be able to give rewards for outstanding performance.

Gamification features, such as achievement badges and clear instructions on how to reach the next levels, were also favoured. However, it was emphasised that users should not be allowed to pay for rewards.

Participants are agreeing to strongly agreeing if they would stay on the platform if incentives and rewards programs align with their needs.

Fee Reductions for High-Level Users

Incentivize High-Level Users with Reduced Fees

User quote

"It's a lot of percentages that disappear, and I think that, a very good thing would have been if their fee, because the higher level you reach, the bigger the deductions would be for me. In terms of money, and then you should also have that the higher level you reach, the more reliable you are as a seller and therefore they should also maybe reduce this fee. That would have motivated us a lot and it would have also meant more money in the end."

User Recognition and Motivation

Implement an "Ultra" Level for exceptional satisfaction

User quote

"further boost to your profile, where in the eyes of the platform, when you get a platinum rating from a buyer, it basically shows as a very good metric of like, OK, this guy knows what he's doing.
This seller knows what he's doing, the buyers happy, and I'm happy as the platform because I get more more payment and obviously the sellers have as well where they see you get the little batch something like this where this gig has a platinum rating or what X amount of people has given this guy a platinum rating.

Host Competitions for Profile Exposure

User quote

"Create some sort of competition or a more umm uh or some sort of more free way of getting your exposure out?"

Award Badges for Achievements

User quote

"if you do good work, you can earn the Fiverrs choice batch, which I had for a few months. You know that definitely boosted my sales and all of that. So I think that was a good."

Avoid Pay-to-Reward Systems

Avoid Pay-to-Reward Systems

User quote

"I wouldn't want would be well, currently there are already a lot of incentives you can sort of purchase your way to exposure and so maybe we could decrease that"

Avoid Lack of Clarity and Feedback

Ensure Clear Improvement Pathways for Users

User quote

"So for me right now I could say like for me right now my success or it could be for example four or five or six, but if you haven't gotten enough orders, it did not, it doesn't really say what you you should improve on. So it's hard knowing what you should improve on."

Provide Specific Feedback for Unawarded Users

User quote

"It's called success score and it's basically I think it's an AI which looks in all of your chats and looks how you have chatted with customers. And I think that is the best way, but only if it's clear to you what you could have done better."

Avoid Unverified User Penalties

User quote

"So I have no whatever control of the buyer's giving me a bad score, and that is something that I would wish to see and differently on the platforms.
Of course, the buyers could give a lower rating, but it must be somehow more strict on if they want to give me a low rating, it has to be motivated somehow and maybe the seller, who gets low scores continuously.
